Artist’s Statement
Weekends are often spent walking and searching out landscapes which inspire me to paint them. On this walk I loved the sculptural quality of the trees growing along the edges of this river, and the reddish trunks against the blue grey of the water in contrast to the freshness of the grass. It was a damp winter day and the light made the colours quite soft.
The Year of the Tree 19
Jane Price lives and works in Chiswick, London. Much of Jane’s recent work is centred on landscapes dominated by trees, woodland and sunlight. Jane became a full-time artist in 2004, working from Great Western Studios in London before establishing her own studio Chiswick in 2007. In 2010 Jane was shortlisted for the John Moores Art Prize, and in 2014 she was selected for the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. Jane works primarily on canvas using acrylics and charcoal. The big bold paintings that we have in the gallery are a stunning addition to any room.
