The cricket figures intrigued Sula as she began to draw at matches. She worked with them alongside the musicians at Potton Hall where she has been Artist in Residence since 2010. At first these outdoor moving figures seemed to inhabit a completely other world to that of the interior of the concert hall. However, the batsman walks alone to the crease anticipating a performance much as the soloist steps onstage to take his place with his instrument. Both performers possess at once, great vulnerability and potential power. As the work has progressed, it is the intimacy of the moments between the significant acts in the performance that Sula captures.
