Artist’s Statement
Woodlands in the Summer are visually very full. Many different shades of green and branches criss-crossing over each other. I wanted to try and suggest this vibrant landscape without over complicating the painting. As ever there is always a shaft of light across the ground highlighting the landscape and unusual shadow colours. I am pleased with the result of this work because I think that I achieved an energy inherent in the scene.
The Year of the Tree, 55 by Jane Price
Jane Price lives and works in Chiswick, London. Much of Jane’s recent work is centred on landscapes dominated by trees, woodland and sunlight. Jane became a full-time artist in 2004, working from Great Western Studios in London before establishing her own studio Chiswick in 2007. In 2010 Jane was shortlisted for the John Moores Art Prize, and in 2014 she was selected for the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. Jane works primarily on canvas using acrylics and charcoal. The big bold paintings that we have in the gallery are a stunning addition to any room.
