Artist’s Statement
Late afternoon in the local park I noticed the wonderful channels of coloured shadows mixed with the lines of shadow cast by the fence nearby. Sometimes the shadows carry more visual weight and importance than the trees themselves that at the height of Summer are largely obscured by their leaves. Sometimes one can just see a hint of a trunk or a branch peeping through. I particularly love the sweep of shadows and the change of plane.
The Year of the Tree, 50 by Jane Price
Jane Price lives and works in Chiswick, London. Much of Jane’s recent work is centred on landscapes dominated by trees, woodland and sunlight. Jane became a full-time artist in 2004, working from Great Western Studios in London before establishing her own studio Chiswick in 2007. In 2010 Jane was shortlisted for the John Moores Art Prize, and in 2014 she was selected for the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. Jane works primarily on canvas using acrylics and charcoal. The big bold paintings that we have in the gallery are a stunning addition to any room.
