Artist’s Statement
Whilst I often observe landscapes from an aerial perspective, most usually from an aircraft, giving a wonderfully linear view of the world below, the occasional tall building will suffice as will a bridge. This painting has been developed from drawings made from a city car park looking down on a group of buildings, roads and pathways, but interpretively executed in order to explore the interrelationship of linear shapes in urban environments with some acknowledgement to the initial point of inspiration. As in all my painting, I feel that an individual response to that which first sparks the imagination is the only way forward to take one’s art to a unique level without losing integrity.
Urban I by Gerry Halpin MBE
Gerry Halpin MBE lives and works in Greater Manchester, England. Gerry is an award-winning innovator who paints the landscape from above, an altogether different perspective, from that of looking from the more familiar ground level position. Gerry’s work makes a stunning addition to any collection.
