Artist’s Statement
Taking a slightly higher vantage point from the headland, I followed the coastal curve of the land as it met the sea, observing the natural pattern created by a combination of erosion, the tumble of lichen dappled rocks, festoons of seaweed and sand surrounded tidal pools. Everything I need for inspiration is there on the coastline, only needing a discriminating eye to ‘see’ how those amazing, natural elements become ingredients for a painting.
