Artist's Statement
My woodland pathway walk surrounded by dense foliage and with a glimpse of the sky beyond, was the inspiration for this painting, which, in its pared back style avoids the figurative content of the landscape and re-presents the sensation of colour, enhanced I felt, by the vertical compositional structure of the painting. The mark making is an iconographic suggestion of my meandering about both in walking and looking.
