Artist’s Statement
Looking from the beach towards the horizon in a late afternoon light, I was more conscious of the layers of colour in front of me than physical elements of the landscape and in order to focus on that sensation, I painted those colours in a simple pared back style, avoiding the intrusion of any distracting, figurative content.
