Jane Price

Jane Price lives and works in Chiswick, London.

Much of my recent work is centred on landscapes dominated by trees, woodland and sunlight.

My challenge is to evoke a mood and atmosphere that is redolent of the light and shadows cast.

At first glance I want the viewer to recognise enough of the subject to draw them in to look again and sense the energy in movement of the paint and the abstract quality of marks.

As a consequence, I do not intend my style to be in any way precious or traditional.  I am constantly pushing to slightly fracture the image, whilst retaining a recognisable subject.

I generally work on canvas using acrylics and charcoal.

Following a foundation course at East Warwickshire College I studied for a degree in Furniture & Product design at Kingston University

For fifteen years I worked as a product designer, with a London based design company, specialising in colour, materials and finishes on a variety of furniture and product briefs ranging from Herman Miller to Parker Pens and Kodak.

In 2004 I became a full-time artist, working from Great Western Studios in London before establishing my own in studio Chiswick in 2007.

Exhibitions

In 2010 I was shortlisted for the John Moores Art Prize, and in 2014 I was selected for the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. Since 2015 I have worked on a number of private commissions. I have also been showcasing my work as part of Artists at Home in Chiswick since 2008.
